Historically, a company called "TT Line" forged the way and commenced the first Tasmanian Ferry service that is known today as "Spirit of Tasmania". The Tasmanian ferry service commenced with ships named "Princess of Tasmania", the "Empress" and more. Ferry routes have varied over the years and have included Sydney - Hobart, Melbourne - Hobart and the more familiar (today's route), Melbourne - Devonport.  Tasmanian travellers colloquially refer to the Devonport/Melbourne ferry service as "Spirit of Tas" or just plain "Spirit". The following Tasmania Ferry Line fares apply for the journey between Melbourne and Devonport. All effort is made to ensure prices and fares are correct at time of publishing. If these fares differ from fares sold by Tasmania Ferry Line then the Tasmania Ferry Line fares are the fares that will take precedence. Fares do not include meals and are subject to change without notice. Shoulder, Peak and Off-Peak dates are also subject to change without notice.

**Fare conditions - subject to change without notice

  • Ship Saver fares. Instant purchase Booking. Fare not refundable or transferable. Limited availability, and insurance recommended.
  • Pensioner - applies to holders of Australian Pension Concession Cards. Availability limited
  • Seniors - applies to passengers 60 years and over.
  • Tertiary - applies to full time tertiary students. Appropriate ID required.
  • Child - applies to children under 16 years of age. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fare conditions for double bedded cabins apply.
  • Student - applies to full-time secondary students 16 - 18 years of age. Proof of full time enrolment required.
  • Infants under the age of 3 travel free providing they are not occupying a bed. Cots are provided. Passengers are required to supply their own linen. Cots are not available in share cabins or hostel accommodation. NOTE: Infants are not allowed in hostel accommodation.
  • Disabled Travellers - Cabins for disabled travellers available with wheelchair access.
  • Sole Use/Share Cabins - Cabins are sold on a share basis and sole use is available for an additional cost.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult in cabins.
  • All deposits strictly non-refundable

Prices are one way, per adult, twin share and additional costs apply for 3, 4 berth cabins and are subject to change without notice. Single supplements available on request.
