The Northern Territory
The Northern Territory A land of huge proportions, amazing wildlife and scenery. The "Territory" has it all. From Kakadu National Park - one of the most majestic parks in the world - to the fantastic tropical zone fishing for the great Barramundi. From Humongous Salt Water Crocodiles to the delicacy of never-seen-before tropical fruit, the Northern Territory has it all. Enjoy interpretation tours with Australian Aborigines, corroborees, the didgeridoo, wadi throwing, boomerang demonstrations - even take part in it yourself! From sandy red deserts, enormous sheer cliff faces, tropical rain forests and superlative untouched beaches, the Northern Territory can cater to virtually every conceivable tourist requirement. Kakadu National Park The name of this wonderful National Park (Kakadu) originates from an Aboriginal language (Gagudju) which was one of the original languages spoken by the original land owners who resided in the northern Kakadu area during the early twentieth century. Although no longer regularly spoken, descendants of these language groups are still live in the wondrous Kakadu Park area. Aboriginal languages used in the Park today include Kunwinjku - a tribe mainly confined to the glorious north-eastern region of Kakadu, the Gun-djeihmi language from the central region and Jawoyn confined to the cooler southern region of the park. The mighty and fascinating wonder of Kakadu National Park is available for all Australian Tourists to see. It is managed jointly by its Aboriginal traditional owners and the Northern Territory's Director of National Parks.
