Day 1

You’ll embark the Polar Pioneer at the Ushuaia docks at 16:00 (4 PM) & meet the crew. You’ll be warmly greeted by the crew who settle you into your cabin on the Antarctic-bound ice-strengthened ship. Once on board you’ll be taken to your cabin and settle into your Antarctic-bound home for the 12 days.

Nearing dusk you settle into the first part of your Antarctic voyage as you cruise down the Beagle Channel under the watchful eye of the magnificent Argentine mountain, the Tierra del Fuego.

Day 2

You'll round Cape Horn, the awesome wonder of which was inadvertently discovered by Francis Drake in 1580. You'll soak up history as you round Cape Horn and become one of the few to do so.  Your cruise ship crosses the aptly named Drake Passage and the on-board naturalist provides you with fascinating insights and provides the budding ornithologists with the identifying factors of the many sea-birds you'll have already encountered and will encounter on your Antarctic cruise.

Kayakers and climbers will be thoroughly prepared during this time with replete safety briefings and equipment preparation in professional hands. Likewise, safety and environmental protection briefings are held to ensure your safety and, the safety of the fragile environment you are about to encounter.

Day 3

Your ship will cross the “Antarctic Convergence” and at this point you may encounter your first icebergs - Antarctica is not far away now and the silently moving icebergs beckon you on to adventure unlimited. Weather permitting, you might be afforded the opportunity to land on one of the South Shetland Islands for example, Livingston Island or Deception Island. The plan is to disembark on at least one of these isolated Antarctic Islands and allow you to explore. You'll enter Bransfield Straight either at the eastern end of King George Island or the western extreme near Livingston Island or Smith Island - which forms the outer shell of the South Shetland Islands.

Days 4-8

Your cruise expands through the Antarctic Peninsula territory where you'll encounter an enormous number of Antarctic species including, seals, whales (you might even get close up via the Zodiac dinghy facilities) and a huge number of penguins and other sea birds. Zodiacs afford landings from the ship to enable frequent land-based exploration, including visits to the wide array of scientific stations, penguin colonies and various intriguing sites of great historical interest. Glaciated mountains up to 2,800 metres (9,000 ft) will soar above you majestically throwing their shadows across the startling white background. This far south you'll be bathed in daylight for up to 22 hours a day providing brilliant and unsurpassed sightseeing opportunities. One of the highlights will occur as you cruise parallel to the narrow Lemaire Channel, with its imposing cliffs towering 700 metres directly above the cruise ship. With absolute calm conditions expected, once encountered they permit virtually perfect reflections to be mirrored on the Antarctic Ocean's glistening surface. This is a photographer's delight!

Day 9

Your cruise ship bids farewell to Antarctica as she sails north, heading into Drake's Passage as you continue your adventure with video and talks from the expert on-board naturalists.

Day 10

Weather permitting we hope to round the infamous Cape Horn and while cruising in some of the most southernmost waters of the world you'll be hoping that the cruise ship will be able to round the notorious Cape and enjoy a specially prepared traditional dinner on board your Antarctic cruise ship to mark to special occasion.

Day 11

You'll return to your port of destination (Ushuaia) via Beagle Channel with an early docking at Ushuaia, Argentina. After an early morning breakfast on board, your Antarctic cruise trip is finished by farewells to your new friends and the ship's crew. You can either fly home directly or, take the time to soak up the delights of the most southernmost town in the world. Antarctic Paradise is found - you've done it!
